Mercury Retrograde in Pisces

Mercury Retrograde in Pisces

February 26 – March 20, 2026

Kia ora my loves,

At 7:48pm NZDT today (February 26), Mercury stations retrograde in Pisces.

But if you’ve been feeling slightly untethered, reflective, or quietly distracted lately… that’s not your imagination. The shadow period began around February 11, and with it came the subtle rearranging of perception.

This one doesn’t arrive with a bang.

It arrives like mist rolling in.

And when the mist rolls in, you don’t see less —
you see differently.

Most people will tell you Mercury retrograde is about technology glitches and travel delays. And yes, Mercury does rule communication, contracts, transport, devices and cognition. You may need to double-check bookings. You may want to back up your files. You might notice crossed wires or conversations that require clarification.

But this retrograde is happening in Pisces.

And Pisces doesn’t break things.

Pisces dissolves things.

This is less about your WiFi.
And more about your perception.

Mercury prefers logic. Pisces prefers symbolism. Mercury wants clear lines and straight answers. Pisces speaks in dreams, memory, intuition and emotion. When Mercury appears to move backwards through this sign, we are invited to revisit the places where our thinking has been softened by feeling.

Where we romanticised someone.
Where we overextended empathy.
Where we blurred our own boundaries in the name of understanding.
Where we convinced ourselves something was “fine” because we wanted it to be.

The clarity that comes now isn’t sharp or aggressive. It’s sobering. It’s the quiet realisation that lands in your chest and simply says, “Oh.”

Oh. I see this now.
Oh. That’s what that was.
Oh. I don’t actually want this anymore.

And once you see it, you cannot unsee it.

This retrograde carries a strong current of discernment. Pisces energy is compassionate and forgiving, but it can also overgive and overexplain. Overstay and overfunction. Mercury moving backwards through this water sign asks us to gently question where confusion has become familiar. Where we’ve been accepting mixed signals as normal. Where we’ve been abandoning ourselves to keep the peace.

This is not about becoming hardened.

It is about becoming clear.

You may notice conversations circling back. Old dynamics resurfacing. Messages from the past. Emotional stories that never quite closed. Mercury retrograde has a reputation for bringing people back into our orbit, and in Pisces that often looks like emotional recognition rather than dramatic reunion.

Sometimes it is reconciliation.
Often it is understanding.
Sometimes it is simply release.

Externally, things may slow slightly. Timelines might need adjusting. Plans may require revision. But internally, the shifts can be swift. You could change your perspective in a day. You could feel a boundary form quietly and firmly where once there was hesitation. You could emotionally detach from something that used to consume you.

Pisces dissolves illusion quickly once you are ready to see clearly.

There is also a softness here. A psychic undertone. Dreams may become more vivid. Music may feel layered with meaning. Memories may resurface, not to haunt you, but to integrate. Creative inspiration can return in unexpected ways. If you work intuitively, spiritually, or creatively, this can be a deeply potent recalibration window.

Just stay grounded in the practical. Move slowly with decisions. Re-read the message before you send it. Give yourself space before signing anything major. Allow clarity to unfold rather than forcing it.

The official retrograde runs from February 26 to March 20, with themes integrating through early April. Think of it as a three-part movement: review, realisation, recalibration.

This isn’t chaotic energy.

It’s clarifying energy.

It is truth without cruelty.
Boundaries without bitterness.
Discernment without drama.

Mercury retrograde in Pisces asks a simple question:

What is real?

Over the coming weeks, gently and unmistakably, you will know.

With so much love & light,
Sarah xx
