Something Has Been Shifting

There’s something in the air right now.

You might not be able to explain it… but you can feel it.

A soft slowing.

A quiet heaviness.

A sense that something is ending, even if you can’t quite name what.

For me, it started in the most ordinary way.

Trucks driving past, loaded up with freshly harvested maize silage.

A tangible reminder from the land itself — we are in harvest season now.

And that moment pulled me inward… into reflection, into curiosity, into remembering.

For a long time, I felt a kind of imposter syndrome when it came to pagan traditions.

Like I wasn’t “allowed” to resonate with them.

But when I really sat with that feeling, something clicked.

My ancestry — England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Scandinavia — lands where these seasonal rhythms were once honoured deeply.

Of course it resonates.

Of course it lives in me.

But here in Aotearoa, we’ve inherited a digital world that is overwhelmingly Northern Hemisphere.

So while they’re celebrating spring, we are quietly stepping into Autumn.

And when I flipped the Wheel of the Year to match our seasons…

Everything made sense.

Mabon marks the Autumn Equinox (exact on March 20th at 10:46pm NZDT) — one of the only two points in the year were day and night are in perfect balance.

Light and dark, equal.

It’s a threshold.

A pause between what has been… and what is about to begin.

Interestingly, the name Mabon itself is relatively modern — coined in the 1970’s.

But the honouring of this moment?

Ancient.

Felt across cultures, across land, across time.

 

This Week Isn’t Ordinary (And Here’s Why)

This isn’t just a general ‘energetic week.’

It’s incredibly precise.

Here in Aotearoa (NZDT), everything converges within roughly 24 hours —

At the same time, we’re moving from Pisces (the end) into Aries (the beginning).

A duality.

An in-between.

A threshold.

And layered into that… a New Moon.

A point zero.

A reset.

So within this magical window of March 19th-20th we have —

- a beginning (New Moon)

- a balance point (Equinox / 2 energy)

Not randomly.

But rhythmically.
