February Energetic Check-In

The Threshold Month, and the Choice Waiting at the Gate
Kia ora my loves,
It’s the 6th of February, and I want to say this plainly: if you’ve felt a little unsteady lately — emotionally tender, oddly restless, unusually clear, or like you’re living in that strange space between “who I was” and “who I’m becoming” — you’re not imagining it.
February didn’t arrive like a clean beginning.
It arrived like a threshold.
And threshold months don’t usually feel neat. They feel like the air changing before a storm. Like the moment just before a door closes. Like the quiet hush that falls over a room when everyone senses something is about to shift.
We’re already moving through big energy, and some of it has already done its work — even if you can’t quite name it yet.
So let’s orient. Not rush. Not overthink. Just… locate ourselves inside the month.
The Full Moon That Made It Hard to Unsee
We came into February under the influence of the Full Moon in Leo — and here in New Zealand it peaked on 2 February at 11:09am.
Full Moons don’t whisper. They illuminate. They pull the curtain back and reveal what’s been quietly building in the background.
Leo energy is heart-led. Identity-led. It’s the part of you that wants to live honestly — not perfectly, not performatively, but truthfully. And so this Full Moon often works like a spotlight on:
- what you’re craving
- what you’ve been withholding
- what you’ve been pretending doesn’t matter
- what you want to express but haven’t felt safe to
For many, it didn’t show up as drama. It showed up as clarity.
That moment where you realise:
“I can’t keep carrying this.”
“I can’t keep shrinking here.”
“I can’t keep living like that version of me is still true.”
It’s not always loud. Sometimes it’s a quiet grief. Sometimes it’s relief. Sometimes it’s both in the same breath.
But once the Full Moon shows you something, you can’t unknow it.

Uranus Stations Direct - The Ground Wakes Up
Then on 4 February, Uranus stationed direct in Taurus.
And if the Full Moon was the spotlight, Uranus direct is the floor shifting slightly under your feet.
Uranus is the awakener. The disruptor. The cosmic electric shock that says, “We’re not doing that anymore.”
Taurus is stability: money, security, comfort, routine, the body, the things we rely on to feel safe.
So when Uranus turns and moves forward again in Taurus, it often arrives as:
- intolerance for routines that once felt comfortable
- a buzzing restlessness in the body
- a sharper awareness around security, resources, or sustainability
- the realisation that something you’ve built your life around can’t continue unchanged
It’s not here to destroy your life. It’s here to make sure your life is alive.
If you’ve felt unsettled, it might not be because something is “wrong.”
It might be because something is ready to evolve, and it refuses to stay asleep.

Mercury Enters Pisces - The Mind Slips Into the Water
And today — 6 February — Mercury enters Pisces.
This is where the month changes texture.
Mercury is thought, communication, mental processing. Pisces is oceanic — intuitive, symbolic, emotional, porous. So Mercury in Pisces doesn’t give you neat, logical answers. It gives you felt truth. Dream truth. Body truth.
From today, you may notice:
- you’re more sensitive to tone, energy, subtext
- you know things before you can explain them
- your dreams get louder or more vivid
- the nervous system becomes a messenger
- clarity arrives sideways, not in straight lines
This is not the time to force certainty.
It’s the time to listen to what your intuition has been trying to say while your mind was busy.

February’s True Shape - A Month That Moves Like a Rite
Here’s what I want you to understand about February -
This month doesn’t unfold like a schedule.
It unfolds like a rite of passage.
Early February (where we are now) is the wake-up.
The illuminating. The loosening. The “you can’t unsee it now.”
But mid-February is where the threshold becomes unmistakable — because the lunar calendar turns, and the sky does something dramatic.
Feb 17–18 - New Moon + “Ring of Fire” Eclipse + the Gate Opening
Here’s the big convergence -
- There is an annular solar eclipse on Feb 17, 2026 (UTC) — the “ring of fire.”
- In New Zealand, the New Moon is Feb 18 at 1:01am.
- And the Year of the Fire Horse begins Feb 17 globally, which lands Feb 18 for us in NZ time as we cross that midnight portal.
So this isn’t just “mid-month vibes.”
This is a literal astronomical threshold — new moon darkness, eclipse season activation, and a zodiac year turning over within the same window.
That’s why February feels the way it does - it’s preparing you for a gate that’s already creaking open.

The Horse Isn’t Here Yet — But You Can Feel It Coming
The Fire Horse year doesn’t begin until Feb 17/18, so right now we’re still in the pre-Horse air.
But you can feel it approaching.
Not as full gallop yet — more like hearing hooves in the distance. The sense of momentum gathering. The urge to move. The appetite for bolder decisions. The impatience with stagnation.
In the Heal Ceremony I attended this week, our guide described the choice that comes with this kind of year -
You can saddle up and go — consciously, intentionally, awake to your own life.
Or you can graze in the paddock, comfortable enough, watching life go by.
That’s not said to shame anyone. It’s said because Fire Horse energy doesn’t reward sleepwalking. It magnifies what is chosen.
And here’s the key - February is not asking you to make the choice today.
February is asking you to get honest enough to know what you’ll choose when the gate opens.
Because when the Horse arrives, it doesn’t want to carry what isn’t aligned.
It doesn’t want to gallop with a saddle full of old stories, old roles, old compromises.
So February loosens them.
February shows you what’s stale.
February reveals what you’ve outgrown.
February softens the mental grip so you can feel what’s true.
This month is the fitting of the saddle. The adjusting of the reins. The deep breath before movement.

If You Feel “Off,” You’re Not Behind — You’re Between
If you’ve been tired without a clear reason…
If motivation comes and goes…
If you feel emotionally porous, sensitive, or oddly detached…
If you feel like you’re no longer who you were, but not yet who you’re becoming…
Nothing has gone wrong.
This is threshold work.
And threshold work can feel slow because it isn’t about speed — it’s about integrity.
This is a month for nervous system kindness. For listening. For letting things loosen before you force the next step.
Let what’s loosening… loosen.

What Comes Next
I’m working on a deeper follow-up that moves us through the Feb 17/18 portal — the eclipse, the new moon, the year turning — and how to meet that window consciously without spiralling into urgency.
If you’re subscribed, it’ll land straight in your inbox.
Otherwise, I’ll tell you when it’s live.
For now, hold this gently -
The gate opens mid-month.
The question is simple.
Do you saddle up — or do you graze?
With love & light always,
Sarah xx
